From Burnout to Purpose: My Conversation with Anne Dawson on TrueNorth

Updated: Jun 29

There are some conversations that stay with you long after the cameras stop rolling. Being invited onto TrueNorth with Anne Dawson was one of those moments.

Anne spent 26 years presenting on QVC, becoming a familiar and trusted face in homes across the country. She now hosts TrueNorth, where she explores the stories of people who have overcome challenges and are making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

It was a real privilege to sit down with her and share the story behind The Serenity Reset—not just what it is, but why it exists.

The Journey That Started It All

The Serenity Reset wasn’t created in a classroom.

It was created through necessity.

Years ago, I found myself living with fibromyalgia, chronic pain, exhaustion and burnout. Like so many people, I pushed through, believing that working harder was the answer. Instead, my body eventually forced me to stop.

That difficult period became the beginning of a completely different journey.

I became fascinated by how the nervous system works, why our bodies react to prolonged stress, and more importantly, what we can do to help them recover.

I immersed myself in learning, training with world-leading experts in yoga, breathwork, meditation and mindset. Alongside my professional training, my own experience became my greatest teacher. Every technique I now share is something I have explored personally and refined through years of working with clients.

The Serenity Reset

During the interview, Anne asked me what makes The Serenity Reset different.

The answer is simple.

Burnout, chronic stress and nervous system dysregulation rarely have a single cause, so they rarely have a single solution.

The Serenity Reset brings together a range of evidence-informed approaches that work together to help people regulate their nervous system, improve resilience and regain their wellbeing.

These include:

  • Therapeutic breathwork

  • Yoga and restorative movement

  • Yoga Nidra and deep relaxation

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Neurological exercises

  • Mindset and coaching techniques

  • Lifestyle and nutrition guidance

  • Practical tools that fit into everyday life

It’s not about perfection.

It’s about helping people feel safe enough for their body to begin healing.

Supporting Individuals

Many people come to me believing they’re simply “bad at coping.”

The reality is often very different.

When our nervous system has been under pressure for months or years, symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, pain, brain fog, poor sleep and emotional overwhelm are understandable responses—not personal failures.

Whether someone is living with burnout, fibromyalgia, chronic stress or simply feeling exhausted by modern life, my goal is always the same:

To help them understand what is happening inside their body and give them practical tools to move forwards with confidence.

Supporting Businesses

The conversation also explored how The Serenity Reset is expanding into workplaces.

Healthy organisations are built on healthy people.

Burnout doesn’t just affect the individual—it affects morale, communication, productivity, staff retention and ultimately the quality of service an organisation can provide.

That’s why I’ve developed workshops, assessments and practical wellbeing toolkits that help organisations identify areas of pressure and give both staff and managers realistic strategies to reduce the impact of workplace stress.

Rather than offering a one-off wellbeing talk, the aim is to create lasting change by giving people skills they can continue using long after the workshop has finished.

A Conversation Filled with Hope

One of the things I appreciated most about speaking with Anne was her genuine curiosity and warmth.

The interview wasn’t simply about burnout.

It was about hope.

It’s about recognising that however overwhelmed you may feel today, change is possible.

Our nervous system is incredibly adaptable.

With the right support, the right knowledge and consistent practice, people can begin to sleep better, feel calmer, think more clearly and reconnect with the life they want to live.

Thank You

A huge thank you to Anne Dawson and the TrueNorth team for creating such a welcoming space to share my story.

If watching the interview helps even one person realise they don’t have to keep struggling alone, then it has achieved exactly what I hoped.

If you’re experiencing burnout, living with chronic stress, or you’re an organisation looking to better support the wellbeing of your staff, I’d love to help.

Whether you’re looking for one-to-one coaching, therapeutic yoga and breathwork, workplace wellbeing workshops or The Serenity Reset programme, together we can take practical steps towards restoring resilience, health and balance.

Because burnout doesn’t have to be the end of your story.

Sometimes, it’s the beginning of a completely new chapter.
