Learning from Wim Hof — and Remembering Who We Really Are

There are moments in life that don’t just teach you something new…
They you of something you already knew, deep down.
Training with Wim Hof was one of those moments for me.
Not because he handed over some secret.
But because he stripped everything back to something beautifully simple:
You already have the power.
The Message That Stayed With Me
Among everything he shared, a few truths landed deeply:
“Have faith in yourself.”
“You are the owner of your own brain.”
“Be the master of your mind.”
Not in a fluffy, motivational way…
But in a physiological, measurable, real way.
Through the breath, through cold exposure, through intention —
we can influence systems in the body we were once told were automatic.
Inflammation.
Stress response.
Immune function.
He spoke about studies where trained individuals were able to influence their immune response — something once thought impossible.
But here’s the part many people miss…
This isn’t about becoming superhuman.
It’s about becoming fully human again.
The Real Problem Isn’t Just Stress — It’s Disconnection
We live in a world where:
We are more connected digitally than ever
But more disconnected biologically and emotionally than ever
We’ve lost:
Community (that “village” that raises us)
Oxytocin-rich connection
Trust in our own bodies
And what replaces it?
Anxiety
Burnout
Chronic fatigue
Depression
A constant low-level sense of threat
This is exactly what I see in the people I work with through The Serenity Reset.
Not broken people.
Dysregulated nervous systems.
Breath: The Bridge Back
Wim calls the breath “the great alchemist.”
And he’s right.
Because breath is one of the only tools that:
Connects conscious and unconscious systems
Regulates the nervous system
Influences heart rate variability
Balances CO₂ and oxygen
Signals safety (or danger) to the brain
When used intentionally, it can:
Reduce inflammation
Calm the stress response
Improve clarity and focus
Restore energy
But here’s where my work adds another layer…
Why Breath Alone Isn’t Always Enough
In the world of burnout, fibromyalgia, and chronic stress…
more is not always better.
Pushing harder — even with breathwork — can sometimes keep the system in stress.
That’s why inside The Serenity Reset, I integrate:
Gentle, nervous-system-led breathwork (not forceful when the body isn’t ready)
Yin yoga and somatic release
Yoga nidra (deep nervous system restoration)
NLP and belief work
Nervous system education (so people understand why they feel the way they do)
Because healing isn’t about overriding the body.
It’s about creating a felt sense of safety so the body can switch out of survival mode.
Faith in Yourself — But Built Gently
One of the most powerful things Wim said was:
“Have no fear, because you have faith in you.”
But for many people I work with, especially those in burnout…
That faith has been worn down.
By:
Overworking
Pushing through exhaustion
Ignoring the body’s signals
Living in constant fight or flight
So we rebuild it.
Not through force.
But through small, consistent experiences of safety, strength, and trust in the body again.
This Is About More Than Health — It’s About Humanity
When we lose connection with ourselves, we lose:
Clarity
Identity
Purpose
And as Wim said — confused people don’t just go to war externally…
They go to war within themselves first.
This is why nervous system regulation isn’t just “wellbeing.”
It’s foundational.
To:
How we show up as parents
How we lead
How we connect
How we live
My Work — The Serenity Reset
My journey through burnout and fibromyalgia forced me to learn this the hard way.
That pushing doesn’t heal.
That doing less — but doing it right — does.
That’s why I created The Serenity Reset —
a nervous-system-based approach to:
Prevent burnout
Recover from chronic stress conditions
Rebuild energy, clarity, and resilience
Help people return to themselves
Through:
1:1 coaching (3-session minimum for real change)
Group programmes
Corporate wellbeing workshops
Retreats
And my book:
The Serenity Reset
— which I was incredibly proud to share with Wim Hof himself… and yes, he now has his own copy.
The Real Takeaway
You don’t need to stand barefoot in the snow for three hours to prove anything.
But you do need to:
Breathe
Slow down
Listen
Reconnect
Because:
You are the master of your mind.
But first — your body needs to feel safe enough to believe it.
Ready to Begin?
If you’re feeling:
Exhausted
Overwhelmed
Disconnected
Stuck in stress or burnout
There is another way.
